Making his point in an interview with Graphic Showbiz recently, the Osey singer said the quality of artistes from the region even in recent years is an endorsement of his view.
“Artistes from Takoradi are always the best when it comes to producing good music and I can say we are leaving a legacy. From the days of Paapa Yankson till date, we still write good music and everyone relates to the content.
“Just take a look at the exploits of Kofi Kinaata. Even in my case, a song such as Nyimpa Nua sends a very good message to listeners so as you can see, our background trains us to compose good songs and not noisy ones as has flooded the system now.
“We follow the works of our predecessors whose songs are timeless. For instance, Kinaata’s songs are ageless and will still be relevant in years to come.
“This is what I am talking about and I am happy Ayesem, Afezi Perry, Singlet, Qwesi Flex and the other rising artistes from the region are following the positive trend,” he said.
Born Joseph Nkrumah Buabeng, Nero X said musicians had the platform to bring change and so must cautiously use their influence and their music to drive positive causes.
“This has been my drive as a musician and that is why most of my songs are godly and motivational,” he added.
This year, Nero X said he will embark on a ‘Help a Needy’ project which will take place at selected prisons across the country. The project is a follow up to his other projects such as ‘Tramadol campaign’ and ‘Help Save the Youth of Takoradi.’
