The 2017 Eastern Regional representative of Ghana’s Most Beautiful, Nhanna Serwaa Sefa-Boateng last Saturday interacted with 80 participants on issues related to Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights at Mensah Dawa in the Eastern Region.
The Wasiɛni (Let’s Talk) youth forum which was organized by two students of the Ghana Institute of Journalism, Abigail Teye Mamle and Stella Darley Tetteh was to address early pregnancy and other challenges faced by young people in the District.
The forum created opportunity for the discussion of issues such as abstinence, contraceptives, ovulation, abortion and drug abuse.
Experts in the field of sexual reproductive health including facilitators from the Ghana Health Service and Ghana Education service interacted with young people selected across four communities in the district.
GMB’s Serwaa in a conversation with the young people exposed them to comprehensive topics and issues related to their sexual reproductive health. She advised them to beware of popular misconceptions and myths they may have been exposed to.
‘'Abortion is not birth control", she added.
She also encouraged them to take charge of their sexual productive health and make decisions that will solely benefit them.
Participants after the forum expressed delight and appreciation for the opportunity created for them to learn and to be inspired.
According to Belinda Tetteh who was among the six participants awarded for participating the most at the forum,
‘it would have been a regret to not have taken part in the program due to information and education we have acquired to live a good life’’.

The program was supported By the District Assembly, the Australian High Commission, the Ghana Education Service, Youth Chief of Upper Manya Krobo District and the Member of Parliament.
